Best Forms of Non-Lethal Law Enforcement

Over recent years, quality of life has become a prime focus of societies around the world. Countries avoid death and disease as much as possible, and they do their best to protect their citizens from violence. Where people exist, crime also exists. Because of that simple fact, there will always be a need for law enforcement.

There are many non-lethal methods of crowd control and ways to stop people who are not cooperating within the annals of reason.  Items like PhaZZer and TASER Conductive Energy Weapons (CEW), also known as Electro Shock Weapons and various pepper sprays are some of the better-known methods. There are downsides to each method, but they are still good alternatives to more traditional methods of enforcement and if used responsibly will serve a greater good. For example, while PhaZZer and TASER CEW’s have a relatively short range, they have proved to be far safer than a firearm and the most effective in taking control of a perpetrator when compare to all other methods.  However, it is best not to take a knife to a gun fight so against a person armed with a ranged weapon, a person with a PhaZZer Taser would be at a disadvantage from a distance.

PhaZZer is another alternative non-lethal weapons company. They create products that are similar to Tasers but are far more versatile, cost effective and efficient. The PhaZZer battery system uses an Ion Lithium Rechargeable battery which last far longer than the competitive brand TASER.  Shot for shot the PhaZZer battery system will out gun the TASER 15 to 1.

This equates into 3000, five second PhaZZer deployments as compared to up to 200, 5 second deployments from the TASER alternative; and approximately $800/weapon in battery savings alone.  Additionally, the PhaZZer Ammunition not only deploy from the PhaZZer Enforcer and PhaZZer Dragon model CEW’s but are also Cross Compatible with the TASER brand X26E, X26P and M26 model CEWs.  PhaZZer also offer several alternative ammunition options, including Pepper Powder, Pepper Ball, Impact Rounds and Paint mark balls which all deploy from the above weapon systems.  Due to the many deaths that have been associated with the TASER CEW’s in the past which may have been avoided with control measure built into the weapon itself, PhaZZer under the direction of Steven Abboud, developed a shut-down safety circuit in the PhaZZer Enforcer in order to limit and at the same time bring a mental awareness to the user of the CEW that the limit of the safe exposure has been met.

This impetus behind this safety shut down technology was a safety study completed by the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEC) and established that no more than 15 seconds of aggregate exposure into an individual should be implemented over a 24 hour time period.  So effectively the Enforcer CEW shuts down after 3, five second trigger pulls.  This will immediately create an awareness to the user of the weapon that they have reached the maximum exposure; however, if the user operator of the Enforcer feels additional force is justified and necessary, then he can intentionally override the circuit by simply recycling the safety switch which will allow for 3 more five second deployments.  Steven Abboud is the International Sales Director and Head of Product Research and Development with PhaZZer and works to create quality products that fit the distinct and dynamic situations that are faced by Law Enforcement today.
